A Saudi gunman opened fired located at a naval air station in Pensacola, Florida. This resulted in the death of four people before the shooter was shot dead by police officers.
In addition, six Saudi nationals were detained near the naval air station, where they will be questioned. The FBI is investigating the deadly shooting which happened Friday morning, December 6th. A U.S. official has revealed that the shooter was an aviation student from Saudi Arabia named Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani.
It was reported that Alshamrani was a student in a U.S. Navy program designed for foreign military personnel. The program’s goal is to immerse students from abroad in the U.S. Navy training and culture.
The evil perpetrator released a manifesto on Twitter that read, “I’m against evil, and America as a whole has turned into a nation of evil. I’m not against you for just being American, I don’t hate you because your freedoms, I hate you because every day you supporting, funding and committing crimes not only against Muslims but also humanity.”
Many officials have stated their concerns about the program and have called for deeper security measures as well as vetting when it comes to picking trainees.
Senator Rick Scott from Florida is calling for a full review of the programs that train foreign nationals in America. He is entirely against providing military training to potential terrorists.
It is completely evident that we have a severe and dangerous flaw in our vetting process. The gunman shot in a gun-free zone, but yet many top Democrats are calling for gun control instead of calling for what the shooting actually represents… terrorism.
Defense Secretary Mark Esper relayed to reporters that his number one priority is figuring out the shooter’s motives. Esper revealed that the gunman was a Saudi national who was a second lieutenant in the training program.
Sources have relayed that the shooting occurred in a classroom where students receive early training at the beginning of the program. From this information, it appears that the shooter probably was a student in the very early stages of his training.
To make matter worse, it is alleged at this point that three of the six Saudis that were arrested, filmed the horrific shooting act.
The vast majority of the international students in the aviation program are from Saudi Arabia. There are currently 1,500 pilots at the Naval training program.
As early as the 1970s, Saudis have been given training at the site located in Pensacola. There can be as many as 20 students from Saudi Arabia in any given classroom. A disturbing fact that many students are passed through the training is that most students came from the Royal Family. This is said to put pressure on officials to put these students through in order to keep diplomacy between the Middle Eastern country and the United States.
This is a horrifying scenario, especially since U.S. military pilots have given complaints about decades that some of the Saudi pilots are reportedly not safe flyers. Even though security has been steadily increased over the last five years, not every car that enters is always checked.
Allowing Saudi students to enter the program just to keep strong relations with the Royal Family is unacceptable and something many officials are speaking out against vehemently.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis spoke out against this. “The government of Saudi Arabia needs to make things better for these victims. They are going to owe a debt here given that this is one of their individuals,” DeSantis told reporters.
They do owe a debt for the four American deaths and the many others who were injured.
A statement by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent condolences to the victims’ families. While this is nice, it does not account for the radicalization some Saudis engage in due to Islam. Islam is the state religion in Saudi Arabia and has over 25 million Muslims, and that number is rapidly growing. Approximately 93% of the inhabitants are Muslim. The country does not allow for religious freedom, which only spurs the growth and popularity of this religion.
Why is it that when a shooter is white, Democrats love to use the term “white supremacy” as the reason behind the attack? However, when the shooter is attached to Islam, the rhetoric is all about gun control, gun control, and more fun control.
After this potential terrorist-linked shooting in Florida, top Democrats took this as an opportunity to call for the restriction of Americans’ continually protected Second Amendment rights.
Many of the 2020 presidential candidates wasted little time using this tragedy, that happened in a gun-free zone mind you, to stunt for gun control. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Former Mayor Julian Castro, Senator Amy Klobuchar, and Marianne Williamson were just a few that went on a gun control frenzy.
Florida Representative Matt Gaetz called the attack what it really was, a disgusting act of terrorism. He also called for much stricter vetting procedures.
“This event represents a serious failure in the vetting process and in the way in which we invite these people into our community. I’m going to be very active in working with the Department of Defense and the Department of State to ensure that we have extreme vetting for the people that come into our country on our bases and in our communities,” Gaetz stated.
The Saudi kingdom has relied on the U.S. to train its military for too long. President Trump tweeted that Saudi Arabia’s King Salman called him to express his sincere condolences.
It seems that keeping strong relations with the U.S. ally, Saudi Arabia has come at a high cost. The cost of American people’s lives. President Trump has long echoed that he is America first. If he stands by this mantra, it seems plausible that the president will limit the acceptance of Saudis, who come from the Royal Family, who enter into the program.
The expense of American citizens should not come at the exception of keeping Saudi Arabia happy. Our lives are worth much more than that.
