The Justice Department’s inspector general released the much-anticipated report of FBI director James Comey. The report involved his administration of memos that documented personal conversations with President Trump.
President Trump, along with most other Republicans were not happy with Comey getting away with numerous violations. “Perhaps never in the history of our Country has someone been more thoroughly disgraced and excoriated than James Comey in the just-released Inspector General’s Report. He should be ashamed of himself!” President Trump tweeted after the news broke.
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham referred to Comey as a “proven liar and leaker” and also saying that he disgraced himself in order to further his own political agenda.
The inspector general’s report showed that the former FBI director engaged in numerous violations. It was documented that Comey gave a memo which consisted of unclassified information to a friend with instructions to distribute the contents with a reporter. When he was dismissed from the FBI in May 2017, he did not inform them that he had some of the memos at his house in a safe.
The report also indicated that Comey failed in his responsibility by not safeguarding delicate information which he obtained when he was under FBI employment.
Comey hastily argued that none of the information he leaked was technically classified and even said he deserved an apology. He soon set his sights on the president and tweeted, “And to all those who’ve spent two years talking about me “going to jail” or being a “liar and a leaker.”Ask yourselves why you still trust people who gave you bad info for so long, including the president.”
However, many people disagreed and were angered by the sheer disturbing contents the report provided.
The report determined that Comey “set a dangerous example for over 35,000 current FBI employees.” Congressional Republicans made it known that they believe the disgraced Comey’s actions were indicative of the “Obama Justice Department” attempts to “undermine” the president.
Memos Comey had written between January 2017 and April 2017 were looked at in the IG report. These contained conversations that Comey alleged were unnerving. Comey says Trump requested that he pledged his loyalty to him when he was at a private meeting in the Oval Office. He also asserted that the president asked for the FBI investigation into Flynn to be halted.
Just one week after his firing, Comey gave a copy of this memo to a friend with instructions to give it to a specific reporter who worked at the “reputable” New York Times.
Creating separate recordings of documents outside of the FBI record system is not permissible. Anytime an FBI employee has gathered information, that information has to be documented in a certain way. It is given a case file number and then entered into the FBI’s case management system. Comey did none of that, and it was only after he was fired that the memos were entered into the official FBI system.
With all of this stacked against him, he was not charged with mishandling classified information.
However, the IG’s finding delving into Comey’s truthfulness in regards to whether he gave misleading statements and information to try and monitor a presidential campaign is still yet to happen. This will occur before the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court. In this, it will look at whether Comey and his crooked team of investigators violated FBI guidelines.
I believe it is Comey who owes not only the president an apology but us the American people one too. By leaking he not only violated department policy, but he also broke his contractual obligations. Yet he has the gall to say he is the one who deserves an apology. How about he apologizes for leaking the information that was in direct violation of FBI policy and his contract.
Comey admitted that he did all this so that this would help to trigger the appointment of a special counsel to look into ties between Russia and the Trump campaign.
It is almost like Comey is above the law, like someone else we know. Top Democrats like to continuously use the phrase “no one is above the law” yet time and time again we see this to be untrue when it comes to their own ranks.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has stated, “No one is above the law, especially the president of the United States.” Senator Elizabeth Warren has declared, “No one is above the law. Not even the president.” Senator Kamala Harris has announced, “Everyone should be held accountable. And the president is not above the law.”
Perhaps the most laughable was when Hillary Clinton, who has been above the law herself almost more times than countable, tweeted, “The president is not above the law. Democracy depends on it.”
This is coming from the woman who got rid of subpoenaed evidence and deleted 33,000 emails. Whose had an enormous amount of personal connections mysteriously die, and who sold Russia uranium and was given $145 by the Russian government.
And when they no one is above they obviously mean illegal immigrants also. Oh, wait, no, they do not. With thousands of illegal immigrants coming across the United States’ southern border, the Democrats not only welcome them, but they also want to provide them with free healthcare. Perhaps the primary intent is to make sure that illegals are allowed to vote.
Let us recap shall we. The Democrats were enthusiastically were for the rule of law when it came to the Mueller probe investigation. However, when it comes to violations of U.S. immigration laws, that is completely overlooked. In fact, it is welcomed and pleaded for.
Ice enforcement, which is enforcing the law, is being harassed and degraded by those on the left. Ice facilities are being vandalized, and the American flag is being taken down at these facilities.
The complete and utter hypocrisy is not shocking, but it is incredibly unsettling.
While James Comey was in the wrong, he rushed into victimhood, which seems to be a common theme with people like him. He was fired for a reason, and the American people deserve an apology from him, not the other way around.
