Wisconsin Appleton firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard was a firefighter who was shot and killed responding to a medical emergency. Lundgaard was a 14-year veteran of the Appleton Fire Department.
When Houston Texan J.J. Watt heard about what happened he donated $10,000 to his family. There was a GoFundMe page set up for his family and the GoFundMe managed to raise more than $80,000. These donations will help Lundgaards wife and three kids.
J.J. Watt’s father is a retired firefighter so he can sympathize with Mitchell Lundgaards family.
This is not the first time Watt had made a donation. His foundation the J.J. Watt Foundation in the past has raised $41.6 million to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey. The money was distributed to All Hands and Hearts, Boys & Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, Americares, Baker Ripley, Feeding America, Save the Children and SBP.
He also gave $10,000 to the family of a fire captain who was killed by an explosion in Sun Prairie according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
