A 37-year-old Massachusetts man was caught in the home of a family that was attending the funeral of a Vietnam veteran relative. He was also caught with a list of other homes that belong to residents who had a recent death in the family.
Daniel McIssac is a U.S. Army officer who served in Vietnam. His family was attending his funeral over Memorial Day weekend when the security alarm at his daughter’s home went off.
Maryfran Randall who is McIssacs daughter said she at first did not even believe a burglary was going even though she got the alarm. But thankfully she called the local police to investigate her father’s home. The house address was listed on the public obituary along with the date of the funeral.
Franklin police found Daniel Lennon in the condo. When they asked why he was in the house Lennon claimed he was just trying to use a bathroom after going for a ride.
Police reported finding a notebook with addresses to homes in nearby towns with details of the families who lost a member recently.
Lennon also broke into Randall’s house during the funeral.
“It breaks my heart because you are in such an emotional state and then all of a sudden you can’t even do what you need to do to remember your family member because now you are dealing with a whole other entity,” Randall said.
Milford police are looking into recent cases involving break-ins while families were at funerals to see if Lennon is in any way connected.
