MSNBC Reporter Admits Guns May Have Protected Venezuelans

The crisis in Venezuela continues as citizens attempt to oust Nicolas Maduro. Juan Guiado was attempting to get a military defection, and in response, Maduro’s military ran people over in heavy armored vehicles, threw tear gas, and blasted with water.

Kerry Sanders, a MSNBC reporter, was watching footage of innocent civilians getting run over and let slip that because Venezuelans cannot own weapons they are unable to protect themselves from the government.

“You have to understand, in Venezuela gun ownership is not something that’s open to everybody. So if the military have the guns, they have the power and as long as Nicolás Maduro controls the military, he controls the country,” Sanders said.

When Hugo Chavez was in power in 2012 Venezuela banned and took away firearms because of, “crime reduction.”
