Hamza bin Laden was the son of former al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. It was rumored he was being groomed for a leadership role in al Qaeda, but it has now been confirmed he is dead.
Officials would not explain how Hamza bin Laden died. However, they did reveal that his death occurred two years ago.
Hamza bin Laden’s last public statement was one released by al Qaeda and in that message, he called for revolts and threatened Saudi Arabia.
Hamza bin Laden predicts his birth to have happened around 1989. While he was not at the compound where his father was killed, there were letters found that suggested Osama wanted him to be his successor.
Ali Soufon, a former FBI agent and counterterror expert, stated back in 2017, “Hamza is being prepared for a leadership role in the organization his father founded…likely to be perceived favorably by the jihadi rank-and-file. With the Islamic State’s ‘caliphate’ apparently on the verge of collapse, Hamza is now the figure best placed to reunify the global jihadi movement.”
The State Department offered $1 million for information on the younger bin Laden in February.
