The Aftermath of the El Paso Shooting…

On Saturday a Mass shooting was carried out by a 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, that killed twenty-two people. Finally, a statement from his parents was released, “Patrick’s actions were influenced and informed by people we do not know. Also, from ideas and beliefs, we do not accept or condone. He was raised in a family that was full of and taught love, respect, kindness and tolerance rejecting all forms of racism, hatred, prejudice and violence.”

A nationwide walkout was constructed by a Walmart employee to protest against Walmart selling guns. All emotions still raw in El Paso as survivors return to the Walmart to pick up their cars that they left after the shooting.

A victim who returned to the Walmart Tuesday had overwhelming emotions have tears stream from her eyes. Remembering the gunshots and people running screaming he’s shooting, he’s shooting! Her husband asked during the time of the shooting if it was gunshots and she wasn’t sure herself. She thought it could have possibly been fireworks until she heard the people running and screaming.

After investigating everything that’s going on, authorities learned that after the shooting the shooter left the Walmart in a Honda Civic. He went a fourth of a mile until he stopped, got out of the car and surrendered to an El Paso officer with his hands in the air.

Some of the injured victims became well enough to testify and share their stories as El Paso is still grieving. One male victim was shot in his foot and had several reconstructive surgeries. Octavio Ramiro Lizarde, who stated, “I just feel grateful I’m alive, He had the chance to kill me, but he didn’t.” Unfortunately, his nephew didn’t have the same luck as he was was the youngest victim of the massacre, Javier Rodriguez age 15.

“I did lose my nephew in front of me. I won’t go into details, but it was a horrible image, and I hope nobody ever goes through it.”

Along with Lizarde and El Paso, who is grieving, the killer’s parents said that they will always remember what happened. They won’t live it down, and they will never forget each and every victim that was murdered by this senseless act, it’s a tragedy. America is with El Paso as we are all grieving and in disbelief that this happened. Along with another mass shooting in Ohio, this needs to stop! America needs to stay united and work toward making the safety of the public the number one issue while sticking together and becoming one. Not diving.
