While recently shopping around on the luxury sneakers website GOAT.com (I’m a big shoe guy) I stumbled across something disturbing. Remember about a month ago? When former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick complained about the July 4th commemoration shoes, Nike was supposed to release because they had the Betsy Ross flag on them? Yeah, it’s about that.
Do you also remember when Don, Jr. tweeted out the picture of the Nike shoes with the hammer and sickle on them and said that this seemed “more in line with their views”? Well, it seems that the Left almost literally took his advice. On the GOAT app, there is now a section with the heading “China Inspired,” which says: “China has made an immense contribution to the global sneaker community. From several Chinese brand collaborations to inspiring stories through its rich history and influence, China continues to help shape and further sneaker culture.”
So you’re telling me, that it is offensive to wear a pair of shoes with the Betsy Ross flag on them, but it is okay to wear something with symbols that hearken to an actual socialist nation?
Now, I just want to say. I personally don’t have a problem if someone wants to wear a pair of shoes with Chinese symbols and colors on them, because some of them were kind of cool. I do, however, have a problem with the complete hypocrisy on the Left. Why is it okay to wear a sneaker with the symbols and colors of a country where real slavery and discrimination does happen, but unacceptable to wear a shoe with the Betsy Ross flag on them?
Betsy Ross was born around 1736 in Pennsylvania with fifteen brothers and sisters. She eventually went to school as a child when very very girls did and began working at twelve years old as a seamstress. She married John Ross and lived a happy life until John became an early casualty of the Revolutionary War.
According to George Washington’s grandson, it was in 1776 that George Washington came to Pennsylvania. He commissioned Ross to make the flag according to a drawing made by President Washington himself. It then became the official flag of the United States of America on June 1, 1777.
So, why does everybody have a problem with the Betsy Ross flag?
I understand that certain white-nationalists groups have adopted the Betsy Ross flag as their symbol, but, you know what, that’s not their flag to take. The Betsy Ross flag is not the symbol of white-nationalists, but it is the symbol of freedom and equality. The Betsy Ross flag was the original symbol of the country that fought a war to abolish slavery. The Betsy Ross flag was the original visual incarnation of our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
We cannot allow people to tear down this country by destroying the very symbols of it. Everyone is sick of Colin Kaepernick and his anti-American rhetoric. It’s time to stand up for our nation.
I would recommend checking out Rush Limbaugh’s website and buying an “I Stand with Betsy Ross” shirt. Limbaugh said on “Fox & Friends” he wanted to provide a way for people to push back against the anti-American actions by Nike and Kaepernick. The proceeds all go to the “Tunnels to Towers” organization for supporting the families of 9/11 first responders who lost their lives or were paralyzed in the attacks.
Don’t back down to anti-American liberalism. Where your KAG hats, and American flag shirts, and red, white, and blue basketball shoes with pride, knowing that you live in the greatest nation on the face of the earth.
