Trump official Scott Lloyd, who led the Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement revealed that he did not realize the devastating effects of separating children from their parents.
President Trump also rebuked the practice saying that “Now, I want the laws to be beautiful, humane, but strong. I don’t want bad people coming in.” He also blamed Democrats for the devasting practice stating, “The Democrats gave us the laws…We can solve that problem in one meeting. Tell the Democrats and your friends to call me.”
President Trump continued to challenge the Democrats for all the child separations by stating, “I hate the children being taken away. The Democrats have to change their law. That’s their law,” Trump said to “Fox and Friends.”
House Republicans released a bill that should keep migrant children with their parents. Yet there has been some pushback because of the fact that it may prolong detention if there is a child with them.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also pushed the message that the Democrats are to blame by stating, “Illegal alien families is the product of the same legal loopholes that Democrats refuse to close. And these laws are the same that have been on the books for over a decade.”
