President Trump ordered new laws and restrictions on asylum seekers coming in from the Mexican border. Some of these new restrictions are application fees, work permit restraints, and orders that cases in the already clogged immigration courts be dealt within 180 days.
Administration officials have 90 days to come up with a set of regulations that would carry out his orders. These changes would be the first set since McAleenan took over Kirstjen Nielsen as head of Homeland Security.
The Trump administration has tried to restrict the amount of migrants who can apply for asylum per day, and who even qualifies for asylum. They’ve ever created regulations on where the asylum seeker must wait for a resolution.
Migrants who have tried to previously enter the United States illegally would also be banned from receiving a work permit unless their claims are taken care of.
