If you use a computer to browse the internet, chances are your social security number and other personal information went online yesterday thanks to one overzealous software engineer in California and her hatred for America.
Paige A. Thompson, 33, was arrested by federal authorities for hacking into a national consumer database system and managed to make off with the personal data of more than 100 million computer users. To see if your information was stolen, you should install any digicert-approved anti-spyware program on your computer. We recommend downloading the FREE pro-freedom software (created by an ex-CIA whistleblower), Patriot PC Protection.
Federal authorities in Washington state said that is quite hard to track down the woman who hacked into the database, stating that she has used several proxy servers to bypass the firewall. In layman’s terms, the system lacked standard security protection, and was simply broadcasting its entire file database directly to Thompson’s own computer.
“If a lone software engineer can do this to a national server, imagine what hackers are doing to your computer at home every day.” says Lucas Baker, who personally developed spy software for the FBI as an intern.
Lucas was part of the team to create XKeyscore in 2012, a spy software which he says is still widely used by the U.S. government today. It wasn’t until Edward Snowden leaked the largest cache of government secrets online that Baker realized he was a part of a darkening, potentially evil mass-scale spy system.
Baker continued his internship quietly, but also knew this was not something he wanted to be a part of at all. In fact, he had an increasingly large yearning to use his programming knowledge against the government software that he helped create. When his internship ended, Lucas rejected a job offer from the FBI and created his own free PC protection software.
“I’m a real patriot, I believe in the American constitution, and I believe I have the right to protect myself on land and online. I just wanted to create something for other patriots, because our rights as Americans are being infringed upon every day online. It’s ridiculous.”
TIP: Can YOU afford to lose your banking information? Protect yourself from the latest viruses, malware, adware, and more.
When asked if he regrets the backlash he received from leaving the FBI, Baker explained, “I don’t regret creating this free software, and I don’t regret going public with the information that our rights are being infringed upon. I would never want a family to go through the devastation of losing their home because some criminal online stole their credit card information.”
“Patriot PC Protection protects your information online for free. It’s not just hackers who have access to your information. Every time you search something on Facebook, that information is being collected. Corporations, governments, private security firms, and anyone else with the right hacking knowledge all have the ability to track your PC data and sell it to each other, or use it for even more malicious purposes.”, Baker told us.
We don’t know about you, but we’re taking his warning VERY seriously.
I am still surprised at how amazing Patriot PC Protection works. I knew the NSA spied on us, and I knew cyber crime was on the rise. What I didn’t know was that every time I shopped online, my data was being breached. When I heard about the Capital One hacker who stole everyone information, I knew I had to protect every single computer I use. I downloaded Patriot PC because it was affordable.
Patriot PC Protection protects me from spyware, adware, malware, as well as the latest viruses. There are all types of viruses out there such as multipart viruses, direct action virus, web scripting virus, and more. I knew my skimpy Norton’s that came with my computer was not doing it’s job when I found out someone opened a credit card in my name.
It took me MONTHS to secure all my banking information, billing information, emails, as well as my social security. I couldn’t come back from the financial loss still. I refuse to let that happen again, especially with my daughter now entering college. I cannot afford to lose my personal information any more.
I’ve been using Patriot PC Protection for 10 months now, and every week I get updates on how it’s protected my information. I recommend this product for everyone.
