A Florida man was arrested and taken into custody on Friday for allegedly posting an alarming threating / warning message on social media. The post read that shoppers should avoid Walmart as he was going to have his semi-automatic rifle returned. The Florida Dept. Of Law Enforcement said Richard Clayton, 26, posted the threat on Facebook writing: “3 more days of probation left then I get my AR-15 back. Don’t go to Walmart next week” on Aug. 6.
Clayton posted his threat just three days after the mass shooting took place in El Paso, that left 22 people dead. Clayton, of Winter Park, was arrested following a joint investigation involving the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement along with Winter Park Police Department. He appeared to support the white supremacist beliefs and had a history of writing threatening messages on Social Media using false accounts, according to investigators.
Clayton was charged with writing threats to kill or do bodily harm and booked in the Orange County Jail. He was held on $15,000 bond, according to online reports.
The incident is another of a slew of threats Walmart has received in recent weeks.
On Aug. 4th Another man in Florida allegedly threatened to shoot up a Walmart calling the location in Gibsonton. He was charged and was arrested for false report of using a firearm in a violent manner, a felony offense. Another incident In Missouri occurred where a 20-year-old man was charged with making a terroristic threat as he sent shoppers at a Springfield Walmart fleeing when he not only approached but entered the Walmart wearing full body armor, carrying a rifle and a handgun on Thursday.
On Aug. 7, A 13-year-old boy in Texas was also arrested for making a terroristic threat that urged the abandonment of a Walmart, the local Welaco Police Department reported. Also in Texas, another occurrence happened where officers reacted to a post on social media that came across as a threat.
