Sunday, President Donald Trump informed reporters that he is not contemplating whether or not he should replace Vice President Mike Pence on his 2020 Republican ticket.
“I am happy with Pence,” he said before boarding Marine One on his arrival to Washington from a weekend in New Jersey.
Pence is unquestionably a true and worthy asset to the Trump administration, particularly given the fact that Trump’s background is outside of government circles. Pence spent 12 years in Congress, so he knows his way throughout the Capitol maze of dos and don’ts. He is also knowledgeable about the states’ view as a previous governor of Indiana.
Pence also has shown himself to be a bit of a policy wonk as well as being impossible to ruffle through the rough seas of the Trump presidency. What’s not to like? Whatever the issue, Vice President Pence is right there in-step, backing the President. The fact that Pence is an extremely-conservative, pro-life man of faith makes him famous with the Republican base and an outcast in the minds of mainstream media, both of which are immense positives in a very divided U.S. ahead of what is sure to be a brutal voting campaign season.
“I think Mike Pence has been an outstanding VP. I think that he’s been incredible in terms of the love that a lot of people, primarily if you look at the evangelicals and so many others, they have great respect for VP Pence, and so do I, and so do, I think, most people,” the President said.
Others have perceived and sometimes criticized how Pence does not so much as flinch, shrug, or blink when faced with a controversial or questionable Trump comment or choice. The mainstream media, deep in the tank for the Democrats, would jump on any such sign of discord amidst the number one and number two men in the executive branch. But Pence is completely aware of that, and he consistently demonstrates an extreme level of loyalty to the President. It would be hard to think how anyone could act in the role of Trump’s vice president any better than Pence has. There’s no way the President will move to replace him.
“I wouldn’t be thinking about replacing Pence. A lot of the people amazingly bring different names up. And that’s by the way at some point, standard,” he added. “Everybody thought that President Obama was going to change Biden. They thought the second term he was going to change that. Everybody thought that, but he didn’t do that.” “I am very happy with Mike Pence,” Trump then reiterated.
