Another incompetent move by AOC’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez this week. The U.S. Representative attempted to delegitimize ethics complaints against her by incorrectly connecting watchdog groups to a completely separate Republican super PAC that an enormous fine from the FEC over foreign money.
She was frustrated with the ethics complaints that allege off-the-books operations and ill-usage of congressional resources. The Democratic congresswoman took to Twitter to falsely link watchdog groups to Right to Rise, a pro-Jeb Bush super PAC that was slapped with a 390,000 dollar fine for receiving an estimated $1.3 million in illegal contributions from Chinese nationals.
Ocasio-Cortez’s posts were followed by the wake of various ethics accusations that allege error by her.
Sadly for the Representative, multiple social media users have called out Ocasio-Cortez, stating that the PAC has zero to do with the organizations that lodged the complaints against her.
She then posted somewhat of a correction, insisting it was “Rather same guy who operated at the org.” However, The Daily Caller noted her second remark was also false.
Luke Thompson is the former Right to Rise operative, whom the Representative was referring to in her tweet. It turns out he has not been mentioned in the complaint against the Republican group and is not filing any claims against Cortez.
One complaint filed by the Virginia National Legal and Policy Center alleges that Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff funneled nearly $1 million in contributions from political action committees. Mostly Set up by her chief of staff, Chakrabarti, to private groups that he also controlled.
The organization claimed the plot was devised to illegally avoid particular legal reporting conditions of the Federal Election Campaign Act, which are aimed to track campaign expenses. Cortez declared to Fox News, “there is no violation.”
Coolidge Reagan Foundation, a political nonprofit filed a complaint against Ocasio-Cortez claiming she used her recently found congressional privileges in an immoral behavior when she set up the House e-mail address for Riley Roberts, Ocasio-Cortez significant other.
“This Complaint alleges Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez improperly converted U.S. House resources to her non-official, personal use by obtaining an firstname.lastname@example.org- e-mail address for her boyfriend. Despite the fact, he was not employed by her congressional office. Moreover, it appears she obtained the e-mail address for him by falsely designating him a ‘staff’ member.” Reads a sentence from the filed complaint received by Fox News.
